My creative journey began in an unexpected way. As a kid, I never saw myself as an artist—until I was gifted a sewing machine for my birthday. That moment changed everything. Senior year of high school, while everyone talked about expensive prom dresses, I decided to sew my own. Realizing, I can do this, sparked my confidence as a creator.
In college, I found a mentor in fashion designer Riza Clave, who inspired me to showcase my first clothing line during SD Design Week. Seeing my designs on the runway was a highlight of my career, and I went on to launch a mini collection that sold out instantly. However, the repetitive process of production dimmed my creative spark, leading me to pause sewing and seek a new outlet.
That’s when I discovered metalsmithing. My first week in an introductory course, I felt like an alchemist, shaping metal with fire and turning molten liquid into something tangible and beautiful. I was hooked. After graduating, I sought out a mentor to refine my craft, which led me to Lisbon, Portugal. With the help of chance connections and persistence, I began working under jeweler Leonor Perestrelo, further deepening my skills.
Now, through Sonderbar Studios, I bring all my experiences together. My work is inspired by nature, life’s twists and turns, and my love for travel. Each piece—whether a bold graphic design or a handcrafted jewelry creation—tells a story and aims to evoke emotion.
If you’re seeking a partner to channel creativity into something extraordinary, let’s create together.
